Darjeeling black tea is one of the most famous teas in the world. Tea cultivation did not arrive in India until the XIXth century. The British wanted to break China's commercial monopoly on tea by introducing tea cultivation to northern India in particular, in 1856, right in the heart of a mountainous region on the outskirts of the town of Darjeeling. The choice of this geographical location was not a coincidence. In fact, this region, which is located between 2,000 and 3,000 metres above sea level, has ideal climatic conditions for tea trees to blossom.
